Variables
Rock Wren
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons in farthest eastern
Oregon in either of two situations: (a) more than 16% big sagebrush
shrubland, or (b) where the most extensive cover type occupies 22-
99% of a hexagon and the hexagon lacks or nearly lacks grassland and
conifers interspersed. Farther west, it occurred mostly in hexagons
containing more than 2% ponderosa pine - juniper forest. At western
edge of its range, it occurred mainly in hexagons with more than half
their area as public land. The logistic regression analysis showed
positive or negative association with big sagebrush shrubland,
modified grassland (Northeast Oregon), elevation (hex. avg.), the
extent of public land, April maximum temperature (hex. med.), April
precipitation (hex. min.), June precipitation (hex. min.), and July
maximum temperature (hex. max.)
